FOR ACCOUNTANTS AND ADVISERS
When a client needs more than the numbers
For accountants and trusted advisers.
You are often the first person a business owner turns to. Some of the questions you hear are not accounting questions: how to grow without everything resting on them, why profit is not keeping pace with turnover, how to build a team that runs things well. That is where I help.
WHO TO REFER
Clients I can help
You will know them from the conversations that stray beyond the numbers. One or two of these signs is usually enough.
Owners of businesses that sell expertise: consultancies, agencies and specialist advisory businesses, usually with £500K to £10M turnover.
✓
Growth has stalled, or turnover is up but profit is not.
✓
Everything still comes back to the owner.
✓
Winning work depends on the owner, or on one or two people.
✓
The business has outgrown its informal ways of working.
✓
The owner wants to step back, or sell in the next few years.
✓
WHERE THE LINE SITS
What I do, and what I don't
What I do
✓
Coach and mentor owners and their leadership teams across ten key areas of the business, working on the two or three that matter most to them.
What I don't do
✕
Accounting, tax or financial advice. When a question is about the numbers, I send your client back to you.
✕
I am not a turnaround specialist, and I will say so if a client needs one.
INTRODUCTIONS
How an introduction works
Three steps, and your client stays your client throughout.
1. You mention me. Pass on the brochure or my details, or introduce us by email.
2. A free conversation. Up to an hour on Zoom. No pitch, no pressure, and your client leaves with something useful either way.
3. You stay their accountant. Numbers questions come back to you. With your client's permission, I keep you in the picture.
What makes an introduction safe
What your client tells me stays confidential. I work to the Global Code of Ethics, signed by the ABM and the EMCC, and my work is professionally supervised. Prices are published, so there are no surprises. Engagements have clear goals and are designed to end. I don't pay or accept fees for introductions, and I take no referral fees from the specialists I recommend, so my advice is never coloured by commission. And if I am not the right person, I say so.
