How well do you know the person in the mirror?

Updated: Oct 28, 2023

Most of us lead busy, complicated high-pressure lives rushing from one crisis to the next. If you are not “good busy” you are a failure. But what is “good busy?” Most of us are victims of “The Tyranny Of The Urgent” where apparently urgent activities take precedence over what is really important to our success. We do not know ourselves, what is important to us, what we should be focusing on and keep making the same mistakes over and over again. We sabotage our chances of success.

You can break this vicious circle by developing your self-awareness. There are lots of ways to do this, and situational analysis is right up there with the best. SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats) analysis is a standard tool in the professional world used to evaluate the position of an organisation. It provides leaders with new perspectives and insights on what the organisation does well, where its challenges lie and what strategies to follow.

A personal SWOT analysis does the same for you in pursuit of your career goals or development goals.
